N Recursions ☛ N Recursions: In Dangerous Dave it's possible to identify the fall-through pink girders via a lighter pixel
All these decades I used intelligent guesswork to figure out which of those pink girders (or metal bars, as I prefer calling them) in Dangerous Dave were walkable and which were not. Today I watched a walkthrough where a person pointed to a pixel difference between the areas that were walkable and the ones that were fall-through. It left me surprised that I didn't notice it for so long. I'm quite sure it'd have been noticeable even on black & white screens.

Windows 11 lost to Linux at 1080p Crimson Desert, Space Marine 2, RDR2 and Cyberpunk 2077
A discussion about the transition from the operating system has unfolded in the pcmasterrace community Windows The CachyOS distribution with the KDE Plasma desktop environment. Users cite constant system crashes, intrusive background telemetry, forced reboots for updates, and pre-installed Start menu bloat as the main reasons for abandoning the Microsoft platform. The new environment boasts a highly responsive desktop and a complete absence of background services that waste CPU resources. The only difficulty during initial installation remains the basic setup of UEFI Secure Boot.

XDA ☛ Valve's Lepton could do for Android games what Proton did for Windows, but it's starting smaller
Valve has been shaping the gaming scene for many years now, but the biggest recent example people would point to is the Steam Deck and the Proton compatibility layer that enables such a Linux machine to run Windows games. It can't be understated how big of an impact this has had on Linux gaming, and you've surely heard about it at this point.
But now, the company is aiming at Android with something called Lepton. This compatibility layer wants to do for Android games what Proton did for Windows games, but there's a bit more to it than that.
