MollyOS – Debian-Based Linux Distribution for Children
Quoting: MollyOS – Debian-Based Linux Distribution for Children - LinuxLinks —
MollyOS is a Debian-based Linux distribution designed for children and families. It is a child-focused variant of the project’s AdenosineOS distribution.
The distribution uses the Sugar desktop environment, best known for its use in the One Laptop per Child project and Sugar on a Stick. Sugar takes a different approach from conventional desktop environments. Instead of centring the experience around files, windows and traditional desktop applications, it presents software as activities and places an emphasis on exploration, collaboration and learning. MollyOS uses this environment to provide a desktop intended to be approachable for younger users.
MollyOS includes educational applications and games alongside the basic software needed for everyday use. The distribution can also be run as a live system, making it possible to try the environment without committing to a conventional installation.
