Latest Raspberry Pi OS Release Brings Dock Support and New Screenshot Tool
Still powered by the long-term supported Linux 6.18 LTS kernel series and based on Debian 13 “Trixie,” the new Raspberry Pi OS release introduces dock support to the Wayland panel (wf-panel-pi), along with new Icon Menu and Icon Tasklist plugins, and a Widgets panel in Control Centre to let you enable the configuration of the dock and taskbar.
Control Centre also received several new options to switch various dock-based layouts, to make the taskbar autohide and to not overlay maximised windows, to use swaybg instead of pcmanfm to draw the desktop background, to configure the defaults for very large screens, and to configure the display of the dock.

Raspberry Pi Desktop, the Long-Abandoned Linux Distro for Non-Raspberry Pi Hardware, May Return Soon
Raspberry Pi's Simon Long has teased a possible reboot of the Raspberry Pi Desktop project, which brought the Raspberry Pi OS Linux distribution to x86-based hardware including laptops, desktops, and even rival single-board computers — more than four years after the company's last release.
"Back in the summer [of 2016], we asked ourselves one simple question: if we like [Raspberry Pi OS desktop environment] PIXEL so much, why ask people to buy Raspberry Pi hardware in order to run it? There is a massive installed base of PC and Mac hardware out there, which can run x86 Debian just fine," Raspberry Pi's Eben Upton wrote back in December 2016, at the launch of what was known at the time as Debian+PIXEL. "We don’t just want to create the best desktop environment for the Raspberry Pi: we want to create the best desktop environment, period."
