Focus on the Technical Problems in Omarchy, There's a Lot to Say About That
The whole "Omarchy" (and "Omacon"/"Omacom") debate is artificially made to focus on politics because of people on "both sides". One side says we should avoid it because of politics, almost entirely ignoring the technical issues that involve a security catastrophe and/or legal/moral issues pertaining to slop. The other side signals that all criticisms directed against it are because of "Woke" or "Communist" or whatever smear works and makes bigots feel 'oppressed', hence seem like some kind of "underdogs".
As an associate has put it, "the debate is getting filled with chaff there are many real reasons to dislike DHH and reject Omarchy though but they are rarely mentioned..."
This new blog post says that "I'm very happy to see the work that Vaxry and Outfoxxed are doing being sponsored and paid for. I think they are doing excellent work. Vaxry, the developer behind the Hyprland tiling window manager, was somewhat controversial in the past."
That focuses on the person, not the project. Then it moves on to DHH and says: "He openly talks about Omarchy being developed with extensive use of AI and is trying to integrate it into Omarchy Quattro, so that you can change your desktop using AI."
This is the sort of thing the debate should be focusing on. Slop is bad for many reasons and it's hardly surprising it also results in security problems, inviting an overall bad name for GNU/Linux. █
