Coming about a month after GStreamer 1.28.6, the GStreamer 1.28.7 release is here to add support for building against OpenCV 5, add a missing API version suffix in the HIP support library filename, restore gap event sending in the MPEG-PS demuxer, and limit the number of remote sources being tracked in the rtprecv element.

GNU/Linux Has Gone Mainstream, Now It's Attacked by Slop

This month is drawing to a close and GNU/Linux has never been measured higher. In the UK and the US, based on several metrics, GNU/Linux is already a "double-digit" beast - i.e. same as in China where there's a new distro release. It meanwhile seems like slop maximalists wage a war on the open Web and Linux. It'll reduce availability, quality, and developers' morale [1, 2]. It's nothing but plagiarism and a "Denial of Service Attack", so we need to keep an eye on that.

Konstantin Ryabitsev explains the impact this has on systems' administrators. At the same time the Linux Foundation looks to profit by working for the scam artists. █
