The biggest news for the Shotwell 0.33 release is that the application has finally been ported to GTK4 for a more modern UI experience. The GTK4 port should improve compatibility with Wayland, such as drag-and-drop exporting, and overall utilization of modern desktop portals.

DietPi 10.7 Adds Support for Containers with Network and ARMv8 VMs

Coming a little over a month after DietPi 10.6, the DietPi 10.7 release introduces support for containers with a network stack and SSH server pre-installed, support for ARMv8 virtual machines, and support for LubanCat 4 SBCs with Rockchip RK3588S SoCs.

KaOS Linux 2026.09 Released with Noctalia 5.1, Linux Kernel 7.1, and Mesa 26.2

As previously reported, the KaOS Linux devs have decided to move away from systemd and the KDE Plasma desktop environment after more than 12 years of using them by default. Earlier this year, in February, they dropped KDE Plasma for a Niri/Noctalia setup.

Neo6502 gains keyboard form factor with four USB hosts

The Neo6502 architecture pairs a WDC W65C02 processor with an RP2040. The W65C02 executes 6502 machine code directly, while the RP2040 handles the surrounding system functions, including memory emulation, video output, USB support, and firmware-controlled peripherals. Olimex’s documentation lists the W65C02 at approximately 6.25MHz.

Latest:

Earlier today statCounter finalised the figures for July and began showing data for August. GNU/Linux seems to have gained in a country with almost 180 million people. Even if 10% of them were to adopt GNU/Linux, that's a lot of potential new users. █
