As revealed last month, Linux Mint 22.3 will feature new System Information and System Administration tools, a revamped application menu for the Cinnamon desktop environment, Wayland-compatible keyboard/IM handling, as well as an improved on-screen keyboard.
Clement Lefebvre also revealed today that Linux Mint 22.3 “Zena” will feature the ability to pause file operations in the Nemo file manager, or snapshots in the Timeshift backup tool, text messaging in the Warpinator file sharing app, always-on night light, template management, and per-app panel notification indicators.

Linux Mint 22.3 Beta Will Be Released This Month - OMG! Ubuntu
If it feels a bit “soon” for a new version of Linux Mint to be coming it’s because the release of Linux Mint 22.2 arrived much later than usual.
As the distro’s developers don’t want their standard release schedule to slip, and many of the bigger changes planned have been in gestation for a while, there’s no reason to hold back for the sake of it.
Amongst changes coming in Linux Mint 22.3 are a redesigned Cinnamon menu, new System Info and admin apps, improved on-screen keyboard, a switch to new XApp symbolic icons, and new options added across various panel applets.

The next Linux Mint release has a name and several new features
Here is a fact-based summary of the story contents:
Linux Mint's development team made a blog post today announcing a nickname for the upcoming 22.3 release, as well as estimating the arrival date of the first beta release and listing some specific new features we can look forward to.
Linux Mint 22.3 will officially carry the monikor "Zena," continuing the tradition of giving Mint releases typically female names in alphabetical order. The current stable version, 22.2, is named Zara, so as I write this I'm trying to be careful not to get my "Z" names mixed up. Zena, though, does distinctly remind me of a certain futuristic Disney Channel original movie I remember watching as a kid.
The Mint team also showed off the Cinnamon application launcher menu's new symbolic category icons, like a gamepad representing the Games category of application, a paperclip for Office, and a cloud for Web. Small graphical improvements like this make Mint (the Cinnamon edition specifically) a more welcoming environment for folks coming over from other deskop operating systems.

Linux Mint 22.3 "Zena" Nears Release with New Cinnamon Menu and Tools
The Mint team has just released its regular monthly newsletter. This time, we have some exciting updates to share with you: the project has outlined the final steps toward the release of Linux Mint 22.3, codenamed “Zena,” the third refresh in the 22.x series following 22.1 “Xia” and 22.2 “Zara” releases.
The team reports that most components have now been tagged for inclusion, and a beta release is planned for the next 10 days.
According to the devs, development has entered its final phase, and packaging work has been committed to the repositories. Given that historically the gap between a Mint’s beta release and the final stable one is typically 2 to 4 weeks, with a high degree of predictability, we can expect 22.3 “Zena” around Christmas.

[Beta] Linux Mint 22.3 Zena to be released soon
Linux Mint 22.3 will be called Zena. The first beta release of the update will be released soon.
Clement Lefebvre, of the Linux Mint developer team, wrote that Mint 22.3 will come with more improvements such as pausing file operations (e.g. copy, move) in the distro's default file manager, Nemo. Snapshots in the Timeshift app will also be pausable. The Warpinator app, which is used for sending and receiving files, will gain an option for text messages. Night Light, which is used to manage the color temperature of the screen, will get an always-on toggle. The update will also add template management, and offer notification indicators on a per-app panel basis.
In my previous coverage, I reported about the refreshed Cinnamon menu (refer to the screenshot below) with symbolic category icons, based on XApp Symbolic Icons. Mint 22.3 will also ship with a System information tool, rebadged from System Reports. And it will add a System admin tool with some advanced options.
