Learning to Build and Use the Internet in Rhino Refugee Camp

Sixty-seven percent of the world’s 42.6 million refugees live in neighboring countries. That’s the case for most of the 192,000 people living in the Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement in northwestern Uganda. The vast majority—85 percent—are women and children. They come from across the region: from the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Sudan, Rwanda, and Burundi.

Coming a year after the previous version, OpenShot 3.3, the OpenShot 3.4 release looks to be the largest update ever done, with new features like an experimental timeline, interactive cropping in the video preview, as well as new effects including Sharpen, Color Map (LUT), Spherical Projection, Lens Flare, and Outline.

Scribus 1.6.5 Open-Source Desktop Publishing App Released with Various Changes

Coming almost eight months after Scribus 1.6.4, the Scribus 1.6.5 release is here to improve the color eyedropper, update the PDF export functionality by fixing issues related to font rendering and exporting via Python, improve light/dark mode capabilities, and update the scripter functions.

The Luna SL1680 is built around the Synaptics SL1680 system-on-chip, which integrates a quad-core Arm Cortex-A73 CPU running at up to 2.1 GHz. For machine learning workloads, the SoC includes a dedicated neural processing unit delivering up to 8 TOPS of dense INT8 inference performance. Memory configurations support up to 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and up to 256 GB of onboard eMMC storage, enabling systems to operate without removable media.

The FSF has been campaigning for software freedom for over forty years. As part of its celebrations, the organization has asked some of its long-standing community members to reflect on their work for the FSF, GNU, and free software generally. The FSF is pleased to announce that free software activists Panos Alevropoulos, Amin Bandali, and Yoni Rabkin will be speaking on the topic.

"It's great to be able to give these community members a chance to share their work with the wider free software world," said Greg Farough, campaigns manager of the FSF. "The movement for software freedom needs this kind of dedication. We hope it will inspire future contributions to GNU, FSF initiatives, and really, anything to do with libre software."
