Linux Mint 22.2 “Zara” Is Available for Public Beta Testing, Download Now

HandBrake 1.10 Open-Source Video Transcoder Brings New “Social 10MB” Presets

Highlights of HandBrake 1.10 include new “Social 10MB” presets, a new option to choose the encoder color range, a new command-line option to disable Dolby Vision and HDR10+ passthru, a new option to disable audio track names passthru and autonaming, updated NVEnc CQ range, and a new option to disable subtitle track names passthru.

PeaZip 10.6 Introduces Dynamic Virtual Mode, Improves Archive Pre-Parsing

PeaZip 10.6 is here almost two months after PeaZip 10.5 introducing a dynamic virtual mode to the file/archive browser for the ListView component, promising to improve the performance of the application when displaying a large number of items at once.

This week, we got lots of awesome news, now that I am back from my summer vacation. Debian 13 finally arrived, Linux Mint 22.2, Tails 7.0, and NVIDIA 580 driver entered beta testing, Mesa 25.2 arrived for gamers, and Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS is out too this week with new kernel and graphics stacks.

We also got new releases of the Audacity audio editor, Calibre e-book manager, PeaZip archive manager, Darktable RAW image editor, GStreamer multimedia framework, HandBrake video transcoder, KDE Frameworks software suite, KDE Plasma desktop environment, and Amarok music player.
