Coming almost a month after KDE Gear 25.08.2, the KDE Gear 25.08.3 release fixes a bug in the Dolphin file manager where the video preview panel crashed when a video file was selected in some cases, fixes broken room succession in the NeoChat chat app, and fixes the broken “Today” button in the Merkuro calendar app.

R1 Neo leverages GPS & compact rugged design for Meshtastic networks

The R1 Neo combines a Nordic nRF52840 microcontroller and a Semtech SX1262 LoRa transceiver for low-power mesh communication. The nRF52840 integrates a 64 MHz ARM Cortex-M4 CPU with a floating-point unit, 1 MB of Flash, and 256 KB of RAM, providing Bluetooth 5 connectivity and system control for the device.

Independent Distro KaOS Linux 2025.07 Is Out with KDE Plasma 6.4 and Linux 6.15

Powered by the Linux 6.15 kernel series, KaOS Linux 2025.07 ships with the KDE Plasma 6.4.3 desktop environment, which is accompanied by the KDE Gear 25.04.3 and KDE Frameworks 6.16 software suites, all built using the latest Qt 6.9.1 open-source application framework.

Since KaOS Linux is now Qt 5-free, more Qt 6 apps have been introduced, including the popular Amarok music player and plasma-keyboard, a virtual keyboard based on Qt Virtual Keyboard and designed to integrate in Plasma. Also, this release introduces plasma-login-manager as a replacement for SDDM.
