Shotcut 24.10 Open-Source Video Editor Released with AI-Powered Speech to Text
Coming one and a half months after Shotcut 24.09, the Shotcut 24.10 release introduces a new Speech to Text feature under Subtitles based on OpenAI’s Whisper, courtesy of the whisper.cpp project. A basic model is included by default, but users can download a bigger and better model to boost the transcription process.
Several transition improvements have been included in Shotcut 24.10, such as Ripple Delete to restore the entirety of the clips included in the transition, Lift (non-ripple delete) to fill the transition gap with the adjacent clips, and increased transition duration when moving an adjacent clip instead of detaching and leaving a gap.
