⌧ posted by Roy Schestowitz on Apr 09, 2025 🄸🄼🄰🄶🄴_🄳🄴🅂🄲🅁🄸🄿🅃🄸🄾🄽_⦇Asahi_Linux⦈_ The Asahi Linux project is having trouble bringing the operating system to M4 Macs, with some chip changes making working with the latest Apple Silicon models a lot tougher. Asahi Linux is a project to make the Linux kernel work with Apple Silicon, so that Linux users can natively use modern Macs with Linux. After having success with M1 and M2 chips, the project is running into issues when trying to work with M4. In a post to Mastodon on April 4, developer Sven Peter describes the work to add M4 support to Asahi Linux as "rather painful." This is in comparison to the challenges the project faced when it came to supporting M1 and M2. The project, for the moment, is focusing on upstreaming M1 and M2 support, but it has started to look towards the M4 workload. Unfortunately, trying to run the m1n1 bootloader isn't working properly for some M4 users who have tried it, as Apple has changed something for the M4 generation. Read_on Also here: * ⚓ Adding_Linux_Support_For_The_Apple_M4_‘Going_To_Be_Painful’⠀⇛ Fans of running Linux on Apple’s hardware are in for some bad news, with the Asahi Linux project warning that adding support for Apple’s latest M4 “is going to be rather painful.” The Asahi Linux developers have been working over the last few years to reverse engineer drivers for Apple’s M-series chips, giving users a way to run Linux on some of the best hardware on the market. Unfortunately, in a post on Mastodon, Asahi developer Sven Peter says the M4 is proving to be more challenging. ⣿⡟⠁⠀⢸⣿⣿⠁⠀⠀⠀⠀⣿⡇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⡀⠀⠀⡀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠁⠀⠀⠀⠸⣿⣿⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣿⣇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣤⣶⣿⣧⣴⣾⣷⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣿⣿⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢻⣿⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠹⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⠟⠀⠀⠀⠀⢀⣀⣀⣀⣀⣀⣀⣀⡀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢻⣿⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠸⣿⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢰⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣄⡀⠀⣀⣼⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⠇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠁⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣼⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⠿⠛⠻⠿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢀⣴⣶⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣶⣶⣶⣶⡶⠤⠈⠙⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡟⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣿⣿⣿⣶⣶⣤⣤⣀⣀⡀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣀⣀⣀⣀⣀⣀⣀⣠⣤⣤⣾⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⠿⠟⠋⠁⠀⠀⠀⠀⠘⣿⣿⣿⣿⡇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢸⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣷⣶⣶⣶⣶⣶⣶⣶⣶⣶⣶⣶⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠈⢿⣿⣿⠁⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢸⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣄⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠈⢿⣿⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢸⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣧⡀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠈⠻⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢸⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣷⣄⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣦⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠱⠄⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣷⡄⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣆⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⡀⠀⣀⣀ ⣠⣤⣤⣤⣤⣤⣴⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣷⡀⠀⠀⠀⣠⣶⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿ ⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡟⢻⣿⣿⢹⣿⣿⣛⣩⣭⣭⣥⣼⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡿⠃⠹⣿⣿⣿⣤⣴⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿ ⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣷⣼⣿⣿⣾⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⠿⠿⠿⠿⠻⢿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⠟⠀⠀⠀⣈⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿ ⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡿⠿⠿⠿⠛⠛⠛⠉⠉⠉⠉⠀⠀⣀⣀⣀⣤⣤⣴⣶⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡿⠋⠀⢀⣤⣾⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿ ⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣶⣤⣀⣀⡀⠀⠀⠀⣀⣀⣀⣀⣠⣤⣤⣤⣶⣶⣶⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡟⢁⣠⣾⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿ ⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣫⣶⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿ ⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿ ⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡿⠿⠟⠛ ䷩ 𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚎 253 ╒═══════════════════ 𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐋𝐄 ═════════════════════════════════════════════════╕ (ℹ) Images, hyperlinks and comments at https://tuxmachines.org/n/2025/04/09/Audiocasts_Shows_Destination_Linux_MiSTer_FPGA_Non_Woke_Softwar.shtml Gemini version at gemini://gemini.tuxmachines.org/n/2025/04/09/Audiocasts_Shows_Destination_Linux_MiSTer_FPGA_Non_Woke_Softwar.gmi ⠀⌧ █▇▆▅▄▃▂▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁ Audiocasts/Shows: Destination Linux, MiSTer FPGA, "Non-Woke Software List", Microsoft Moles⠀▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▂▃▄▅▆▇█ ⌧ posted by Roy Schestowitz on Apr 09, 2025 * ⚓ Tux Digital ☛ Destination_Linux_414:_Zorin_through_an_Hey_Hi_(AI) Labyrinth_on_a_Thunderbird⠀⇛ On this episode, we review community feedback, explore Zorin OS 17.3 release and their shift to Brave as its default browser. It’s a question only you can answer based on your own needs, but your hardware could influence your decision, as AMD RDNA 3.5 is surprisingly more muscular in the open-source software in some tasks than it is in Microsoft’s alternative. [...] Moving to OpenGL using the Unigine Heaven 4 benchmarks, Windows claimed a 20% lead even though the app is also optimised for Linux. This is the first stable release since 2022, and includes improvements to the Fdisk hard-disk-management program, and reliability updates for the mTCP set of TCP/IP applications for DOS. This version was much smoother because Jerome Shidel, our distribution manager, had an idea after FreeDOS 1.3 that we could have a rolling test release that collected all of the changes that people make over time. Previous to this, each new FreeDOS distribution (like 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3) required bundling up packages into a "release candidate," and we would go through several iterations of updating the release candidates. Jerome's method of building the FreeDOS distribution made it easier to automate a test release, which we decided to update every month. As the test releases accumulated enough changes to warrant a release, we could then make the next test release a "release candidate" which would iterate to the next version of the FreeDOS distribution. Since 2022, we've released monthly test releases. Thanks Jerome! LWN covered FreeDOS last year for its 30th anniversary. We think it’s a great idea, and have long lamented how many pocket supercomputers simply get tossed in the recycling stream, when they could be put to use in hacker projects. So far, it looks like Citronics only has a prototyping breakout board for the Fairphone 2, but it’s a promising idea. One of the things that’s stopping us from re-using old phones, of course, is the lack of easy access to the peripherals. On the average phone, you’ve got one USB port and that’s it. The Citronics dev provides all sorts of connectivity: 4x USB 2.0, 1x Ethernet 10/100M, and a Raspberry Pi Header (UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO). At the same time, for better or worse, they’ve done away with the screen and its touch interface, and the camera too, but they seem to be keeping all of the RF capabilities. * ⚓ The DIY Life ☛ Introducing_Lab_Rax:_A_3D_Printable_&_Modular_10″_Rack System⠀⇛ Today, I’m excited to introduce Lab Rax, my latest 3D-printable project—a fully modular and customizable 10-inch server rack system for homelab enthusiasts. This release is mostly about fixing bugs and preventing crashes, but it does include a new addition to the sidebar-style user-interface (UI) elements. The most common issue fixed addressed the problem of Plasma crashing when a screen is unplugged. The developers also improved several KWin effects (such as Wobbly Windows) and improved the results when the screen recorder, Spectacle, is used on a display with fractional scaling enabled. Also, the user switcher widget has had a bit of a UI refresh so the username text is laid out more logically. There are several other bug fixes that cover everything from the Bluetooth wizard to Plasma Discover (and everything in between). You'll find fixes in the Breeze theme, KMenuEdit, copy/paste, the Weather Report app, plasma-vault, Plasma Workspace, print-manager, and more. That was wittier in my head. I have a few repos for various parts of this site that should probably be in git submodules or something. I also never got around to importing all my svn history into this repo either. It’s all a bit of a mess. Point is, I was trying to be clever today, which you should never do. Each OEM implements home-grown solutions for standard features like OTA updates, user authentication, factory installation, machine gateways and IoT gateways. None of these features belong to the OEM’s core business. OEMs could save a lot of time and money, if they could buy these features as ready-made solutions from third- party vendors. Microservices could be these ready-made solutions. They have technology-agnostic interfaces, which the terminal application would call to perform standard jobs like OTA updates and user authentication. Microservices are independently deployable and run in their own process (see the Definition of Microservices for more details). Third-party vendors can build the microservices once for many OEMs to use on their devices. * ⚓ Artyom Bologov ☛ Some_Things_Have_To_Be_Ugly⠀⇛ Some things are just ugly and you have to live with it. Or even make some things ugly deliberately—to highlight the complexity behind the code. * ⚓ Buttondown LLC ☛ Solving_a_"Layton_Puzzle"_with_Prolog⠀⇛ I have a lot in the works for the this month's Logic for Programmers release. Among other things, I'm completely rewriting the chapter on Logic Programming Languages. I originally showcased the paradigm with puzzle solvers, like eight queens or four-coloring. Lots of other demos do this too! It takes creativity and insight for humans to solve them, so a program doing it feels magical. But I'm trying to write a book about practical techniques and I want everything I talk about to be useful. So in v0.9 I'll be replacing these examples with a couple of new programs that might get people thinking that Prolog could help them in their day-to-day work. * ⚓ Rlang ☛ Code_collaboration_in_NEST⠀⇛ Moving forward at J&J, we are transitioning towards adopting R as our preferred analytical tool, and we were thrilled with the capabilities within the NEST framework ( {rtables} , {tern} and {teal} ) designed by Roche. As of today, we are building our new internal standard table shells using the open source packages from this NEST framework. * ⚓ Rlang ☛ Extending_the_Theta_forecasting_method_to_GLMs_and_attention⠀⇛ In the new version (v0.18.0) of the ahead package, I have extended the forecast::thetaf function to support Generalized Linear Models (GLMs) and added an attention mechanism. Attention is widely used in current neural networks (because they tend to forget; blame it on the gradients 🙂 ) to focus on specific parts of the input data when making predictions. * ⚓ Daniel Holden ☛ Debug_Drawing_Text_using_Lines⠀⇛ I thought it would probably be possible to draw text using just line rendering, figuring I could build a basic look-up table that mapped character codes to a series of line segments. I'm certain this isn't a new idea, but surprisingly I couldn't find much after some digging around online. * ⚓ DataGeeek ☛  Ensembles_of_Models_–_DataGeeek⠀⇛ The BIST Technology index seems to have reached the upper band despite the ongoing political crisis in Turkey. But could it be continued? * ⚓ Tom's Hardware ☛ Git_turns_20_as_we_celebrate_decades_of_open-source software_distribution⠀⇛ Although Linus Torvalds is often credited with the creation of Git, he hasn't been heavily involved in the project since June of 2005. For the last 20 years, Junio Hamano has held the reins and helped Git maintain its relevance, with regular updates and maintenance. In fact, the most recent update, 2.49, debuted just last month. * ⚓ Julia Programming Language ☛ This_Month_in_Julia_World⠀⇛ A monthly newsletter, mostly on julia internals, digestible for casual observers. A biased, incomplete, editorialized list of what I found interesting this month, with contributions from the community. * ⚓ Chris ☛ Parser_Combinators_Beat_Regexes⠀⇛ Someone online was solving Advent of Code problems, and had a question about last years’ day 3. They had a working solution using regular expressions (regexes) on String values, but they wanted to use ByteString values instead for performance reasons. They were surprised, however, that there seems to be a lack of community cohesion around regex libraries in Haskell. There’s a reason for that. We generally don’t use regexes in Haskell. We use parser combinators instead, because they are almost always better. In other languages, it would be considered overkill to write a full parser when a simple regex can do the same thing. In Haskell, writing a parser is no big deal. We just do it and move on with our lives. * ⚓ [Old] Jack Franklin ☛ Writing_good_comments:_the_why,_not_the_how⠀⇛ All code can eventually be understood; code is ultimately instructions to the computer to do something. Code can be confusing but it can't lie, given enough time any developer can step through code and work out exactly what it does. But it's much harder to work out why it does that. Give your colleagues (or future you, in six months time) the context behind why the code does what it does and you'll be much better for it. o § Rust⠀➾ # ⚓ Rust Blog ☛ The_Rust_Programming_Language_Blog:_March Project_Goals_Update⠀⇛ The Rust project is currently working towards a slate_of_40_project_goals, with 3 of them designated as Flagship_Goals. I have used bash scripts for just about everything, from backups to user creation, and much more, but there is one area where bash scripts really shine -- automation. You might be thinking this is too challenging for your skills, but you would be surprised at how easy it can actually be. What I am going to do is show you how to use bash scripts and the Linux terminal to update several Linux machines at once. Are you ready for this? Let's do it. * ⚓ Jim Nielsen ☛ Background_Image_Opacity_in_CSS⠀⇛ Worked like a charm! It probably won’t work in every scenario like a dedicated background-image-opacity might, but for my particular use case at that moment in time it was perfect! * ⚓ Louie Mantia ☛ CSS_Naked_Day⠀⇛ Don’t freak out. My website is observing CSS Naked Day. * ⚓ Harry Cresswell ☛ CSS_Naked_Day_|_Harry_Cresswell⠀⇛ The 9th April is CSS Naked Day which is all about promoting web standards. The idea is that for one whole international day each year, anyone who wants to get involved has the chance to strip their websites of CSS, show off their semantic and lay bare to all their proper use of HTML, semantic markup and good hierarchy structure. o ⚓ GetOutOfMyHead.dev ☛ getoutofmyhead.dev/⠀⇛ Make faster, more accessible, more environmentally friendly websites, by removing these tags from your site's . o § idroot⠀➾ # ⚓ ID Root ☛ How_To_Install_GLIBC_on_Fedora_41⠀⇛ The GNU C Library (GLIBC) serves as the backbone of any GNU/Linux system, providing crucial system calls and basic functions that applications depend on to operate properly. Eleven of those flaws earned Microsoft’s most-dire “critical” rating, meaning malware or malcontents could exploit them with little to no interaction from Windows users. * ⚓ The Register UK ☛ Patch_Tuesday_fixes_an_exploited_bug,_but_not_for Windows_10⠀⇛ The one that deserves most attention is CVE-2025-29824, an elevation of privilege (EoP) hole in the Windows Common Log File System Driver, because it is already being exploited. In a separate note, Microsoft explained the vulnerability is being exploited by a crew it has designated as Storm-2460, which uses the bug to deliver ransomware it’s dubbed PipeMagic. Victims have been found in the US, Spain, Venezuela, and Saudi Arabia. * ⚓ Scoop News Group ☛ Microsoft_patches_zero-day_actively_exploited_in string_of_ransomware_attacks⠀⇛ Mike Walters, president and co-founder at Action, said CVE- 2025-29824 “is significant because it affects a core component of Windows, impacting a wide range of environments, including enterprise systems and critical infrastructure.” Attackers can exploit the vulnerability to gain the highest privilege on a Windows system, Walters said. This allows attackers to install malware, modify system files and registry settings, disable security features, access sensitive data and maintain persistent access, resulting in full system compromise and lateral movement across networks, Walters added. * ⚓ The Record ☛ Microsoft:_Zero-day_bug_used_in_ransomware_attacks_on_US real_estate_firms⠀⇛ The zero-day vulnerability, tagged as CVE-2025-29824, impacts Windows Common Log File System Driver (CLFS) – a frequent target of ransomware gangs. CLFS is a logging framework that was first introduced by Microsoft in Windows Server 2003 R2 and included in later Windows operating systems. It effectively allows users to record a series of steps required for some actions so that they can be either reproduced accurately in the future or undone. ╘══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╛ ¶ Lines in total: 2858 ➮ Generation completed at 02:50, i.e. 24 seconds to (re)generate ⟲
