Best_Free_and_Open_Source_Alternatives_to_Salesforce_Quip_- LinuxLinks⠀⇛ Quip is a collaborative productivity software package. It lets groups of people to create and edit documents and spreadsheets collaboratively. Quip is proprietary software. We recommend the best free and open source alternatives for Linux. * ⚓ 22_Best_Free_and_Open_Source_Linux_System_Monitoring_Tools_- LinuxLinks⠀⇛ To provide an insight into the quality of software that is available, we have compiled a list of 22 Linux system monitoring tools. Hopefully, there will be something of interest here for anyone who wants to monitor a specific service or situation. Here’s our verdict captured in a legendary LinuxLinks-style ratings chart. Only free and open source software is eligible for inclusion. * ⚓ dprox_-_lightweight_DNS_proxy_server_-_LinuxLinks⠀⇛ It’s created as a drop-in replacement of dnsmasq to work with dnsmasq-china-list, enhancing overall lookup performance over extensive domain lists. Currently, only a small subset of dnsmasq options is implemented: just enough to seamlessly work with dnsmasq-china-list and hosts-blocklists. This is free and open source software. * ⚓ wayclip_-_access_the_Wayland_clipboard_-_LinuxLinks⠀⇛ wayclip distinguishes itself from other Wayland clipboard utilities in the following ways: small – the whole codebase is less than 300 lines (excluding whitespace). Unixy – all it does is copy and paste; other functions are for other programs no dynamic memory allocation This is free and open source software. * ⚓ Qtcord_-_Discord_client_built_with_Qt_-_LinuxLinks⠀⇛ Qtcord is a Discord client built with Qt aiming to bring a lightweight, native experience. This is free and open source software. * ⚓ boom_-_manage_text_snippets_-_LinuxLinks⠀⇛ boom manages your text snippets on the command line. You can stash away text like URLs, canned responses, and important notes and then quickly copy them onto your clipboard, ready for pasting. This is free and open source software. * ⚓ Newsraft_-_feed_reader_for_terminal_-_LinuxLinks⠀⇛ Pager menu will display some details about selected item and render its content if it was provided by feed. Usually feed item entries have a links section with one link pointing to a related web page and several links that were mentioned in the item’s content. You can copy these links into your clipboard with y key and open them in your web browser with o key. To target a key action to link with a specific index you have to prefix your key with this index. For example, 5y will copy fifth link and 17o will open seventeenth link in the web browser. You can also setup custom command bindings to execute any commands with these links. The main novelty is that the underlying Linux operating system has been updated and is now built on the Debian Sid repository as of March 3, 2025. Another significant change is discontinuing the i686/i686-pae versions of Clonezilla Live. According to the recent decisions by the Debian project to retire i386 kernel packages, only the amd64 (x86- 64) builds will be available from now on. It also rebases the underlying GNU/Linux operating system on the Debian Sid repository as of March 3rd, 2025. One important change in Clonezilla Live 3.2.1 is the removal of support for 32- bit (i686/i686-pae) systems due to the i386 Linux kernel packages being removed from the upstream, Debian Sid repositories. This is the first release of Clonezilla Live to only be available for 64-bit systems. It's been a year now since the new major version of the desktop environment has been released, and it's come a long way since the early incarnation. It still looks and behaves like Plasma 5, so you won't get any system shock moving over to it. Plasma also retains its magical power of customization, and you can actually do proper desktop stuff with it. Even things like, gasp, minimize windows or show desktop or save desktop icons, golly. Pretty, elegant, and the bugs are going away, gradually. All that said, there are still problems and issues, some seemingly unnecessary so. The "noise" of KDE neon sure doesn't help. The KDE team must maintain a distro that is essentially Ubuntu, only 100x buggier, and that just creates overhead. And if one wishes to sample Plasma, they may come away disappointed, and not because there's something wrong with the desktop, but because KDE neon is simply not stable enough. It's like opening a fancy new restaurant in a building with a leaky roof. Even if you enjoy the cuisine a lot, the general ambiance will be a bit meh. Wayland is another drag. Well, there we are. Around AT&T’s 100-year anniversary, he was asked to give a second glance to Bell Gothic that updated the style for the era and technical needs. What he came up with was Bell Centennial, which is noted for its narrow creases. These features, called ink traps, essentially work with the printing process to ensure that, as small smudges happen in tiny typography, the letter fills out. The result is that, in practice, the “traps” are not visible—and that ink is less likely to smudge the letterform into something unreadable. * ⚓ Manuel Matuzović ☛ Maybe_don't_use_custom_properties_in_shorthand properties_-_Manuel_Matuzovic⠀⇛ I've already written about how the fact that the initial value of a custom property is a guaranteed-invalid value can lead to unexpected results. In the process of doing this MFA authentication, we need to extract the university identifier to use for MFA authentication from our local LDAP data. Conveniently, SimpleSAMLphp has a module called core:AttributeAlter (a part of authentication processing filters) that is intended to do this sort of thing. You can give it a source, a pattern, a replacement that includes regular expression group matches, and a target attribute.
