These are medical images in the DICOM format. This is a relatively open standard which uses JPG plus lots of metadata. There are dozens of Linux programs which can read this - although many haven't been updated in years. The easiest GUI for viewing the images is Mango. I was focused more on productivity applications and those that I could choose between my distro and Flatpak to get a feel of Flatpak, apples to apples. In Arch Linux, the backdoor was present in XZ package versions 5.6.0-1 and 5.6.1-1. The Arch Linux devs were quick to patch the issue and released XZ version 5.6.1-2, which is also included in the new ISO image, Arch Linux 2024.03.29. More details about that are available here. Nor does Easter. So here we are. Another week has passed, and rc2 is out. Nothing here look all that remarkable, and the fixes are fairly evenly spread out (so mostly drivers, because that's the bulk of the code). Outside of the driver fixes (see shortlog below for details), we've got some more selftest work (mostly networking and bpf but also some random fixes), some architecture fixes (mostly x86), some filesystem work (xfs and btrfs) and random noise in other parts (mm, core kernel, networking, Kbuild..). Nothing stands out to me or looks unusual. That AlmaLinux has taken "shortcuts,” especially when it comes to the subscription manager. If you're familiar with Subscription Manager, you know that it's designed to connect to Red Hat infrastructure, and Enterprise Linux clones don't install it by default. So, not including it in AlmaLinux is not a bad shortcut but a good decision. Later, it was added because it might also work with Foreman/Katello/ Candlepin.
