The previous ExTiX Deepin version with Deepin 23 BETA 2 is from 240110. This ExTiX Build is based on Deepin 23 BETA 3 (latest version) released by Deepin Technology on February 2, 2024. Please read the Release Notes. As you can see the developers urge people to try Deepin BETA 3 in a non-production environment! I must say, though, that I haven’t discovered any “bugs”. And the installed programs won’t “crash” or anything like that. On the contrary ExTiX Deepin 24.2 with the Deepin DE 23 BETA 3 works pretty well I would say. I have nevertheless kept ExTiX 22.12 with Deepin 20.8 on the server. Deepin 20.8/20.9 is the stable version released 221208. ExTiX 24.2 uses kernel 6.7.4-amd64-extix. ExTiX 24.2 works in the same way as all other ExTiX versions. I.e. you can install it to hard drive while running the system live. Use Refracta Installer for that. You can also create your own live installable Deepin 23 system with Refracta Snapshot. (Using ExTiX 24.2 as a “base system/template”). So easy that a ten year old child can do it! The company is introducing ChromeOS Flex, an auto-updating version of the Chrome operating system that can be installed on Windows devices. This move potentially saves millions of PCs from ending up in landfills once Microsoft discontinues support for Windows 10 on 14th October 2025. With ChromeOS Flex, users can continue receiving regular security updates and features like data encryption on their Windows 10 systems. This ensures that these devices can still be used securely. The screenshot tool has been implemented! Take screenshots of your entire screen, a specific window, or a selected area. This feature is now implemented in COSMIC. Currently, stacking allows you to pair tiled windows together across applications like tabs in a web browser. In COSMIC, you’ll also have the ability to stack floating (non-tiled) windows. This can be done by simply dragging a window to the stack header; drag it out of the header to remove it from the stack. It’s creating quite a buzz in the open-source community, with many users eagerly anticipating its release. Here’s why. For years, GNOME has been trying to “re-educate” users on how a desktop environment should work, often by removing key features that have been staples of the desktop experience for over three decades and introducing controversial changes and approaches to the UI and user’s interaction with the environment. The changes were triggered by communication problems between System76 and the Gnome developers, as well as a general dissatisfaction with the future development of the Gnome desktop. As both Pop!_OS 21.04 LTS and 22.04 LTS are still based on Gnome, the System76 team had to limit themselves to Gnome extensions, which, according to Pop!_OS developer Michael Murphy, "felt like a hack". So in late 2021, they began in- house development of the new Cosmic Desktop in the Rust programming language. ䷩ 𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚎 2272 ╒═══════════════════ 𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐋𝐄 ═════════════════════════════════════════════════╕ (ℹ) Images, hyperlinks and comments at https://news.tuxmachines.org/n/2024/02/16/Today_in_Techrights.shtml Gemini version at gemini://gemini.tuxmachines.org/n/2024/02/16/Today_in_Techrights.gmi ⠀⌧ █▇▆▅▄▃▂▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁ Today in Techrights⠀▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▂▃▄▅▆▇█ ⌧ posted by Roy Schestowitz on Feb 16, 2024 🄸🄼🄰🄶🄴_🄳🄴🅂🄲🅁🄸🄿🅃🄸🄾🄽_⦇Boy_walking_away_with_teddy_bear⦈_ ⚓ Updated This Past Day⠀⇛ 1. ⚓ The_Web_Has_Become_Chrome⠀⇛ Welcome to 2024 2. ⚓ 5_Jack_Wallen_Features_That_Might_Make_Him_Microsoft's_New_Favorite Linux_Shill⠀⇛ Did he get paid for this? 3. ⚓ Microsoft_Has_Fallen_to_0.0%_(Zero_Market_Share)_in_Mobile,_Tablets, and_Consoles⠀⇛ Not Even 0.1% Anymore! ⚓ New⠀⇛ 4. ⚓ Links_15/02/2024:_Rushing_to_Unionise_Amid_Mass_Layoffs_at_Microsoft, High-Level_Blizzard_Departures⠀⇛ Links for the day 5. ⚓ Hot_Topics_in_the_First_2_Weeks_of_This_Month⠀⇛ a look back 6. ⚓ SoylentNews_Isn't_Failing,_It_Is_Being_Sabotaged_by_Very_Aggressive Trolls⠀⇛ Don't let saboteurs get their way 7. ⚓ [Meme]_EPO_Staff_Will_Win_When_Managers_Are_Afraid_of_the_Staff_More Than_Staff_is_Afraid_of_the_Management⠀⇛ EU has messed up governance 8. ⚓ Patent_Examiners'_Anxiety_is_the_Autocrats'_Weapon_(Because_Fear_Begets Complicity)⠀⇛ Immediate stress relief or gratification often means docility, obedience, and irrationally submissive compliance, even obeying illegal instructions, sometimes lying to oneself to justify that retroactively 9. ⚓ Helen_Faulkner,_Ben_Burton_&_Debian_women_housemates⠀⇛ Reprinted with permission from Daniel Pocock 10. ⚓ [Meme]_Stressing_the_Rule_of_Law_(Nobody_Will_be_Happy)⠀⇛ This system works only for mass litigation firms and monopolies 11. ⚓ Workers'_Stress_at_the_EPO_Growing:_"A_Lot_of_Colleagues_Are_Exhausted Yet_Do_Not_Go_on_Sick_Leave"⠀⇛ internal publication 12. ⚓ Over_at_Tux_Machines...⠀⇛ GNU/Linux news for the past day 13. ⚓ IRC_Proceedings:_Wednesday,_February_14,_2024⠀⇛ IRC logs for Wednesday, February 14, 2024 14. ⚓ Gemini_Links_14/02/2024:_Gemini_PDA_and_Installing_LibreOffice_on FreeBSD_14.0⠀⇛ Links for the day ========================================================================= The corresponding text-only bulletin for Thursday contains all the text. ䷩ 𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚎 2395 ╒═══════════════════ 𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐋𝐄 ═════════════════════════════════════════════════╕ (ℹ) Images, hyperlinks and comments at https://news.tuxmachines.org/n/2024/02/16/today_s_howtos.1.shtml Gemini version at gemini://gemini.tuxmachines.org/n/2024/02/16/today_s_howtos.1.gmi ⠀⌧ █▇▆▅▄▃▂▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁ today's howtos⠀▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▂▃▄▅▆▇█ ⌧ posted by Roy Schestowitz on Feb 16, 2024 🄸🄼🄰🄶🄴_🄳🄴🅂🄲🅁🄸🄿🅃🄸🄾🄽_⦇Penguin_Ice_Skating_Support⦈_ * ⚓ Implementing_OpenTelemetry_Natively_in_an_Event_Broker⠀⇛ In basic terms, an event-driven architecture (EDA) is a distributed system that involves moving data and events between microservices in an asynchronous manner with an event broker acting as the central nervous system in the overall architecture.
