OpenShot 4.0 Open-Source Video Editor Officially Released, Here’s What’s New
Coming five months after the OpenShot 3.5 series, the OpenShot 4.0 release introduces a new Recording View with a dedicated audio recording dock for screen, webcam, and audio capture, screen/webcam recording support for Linux on Wayland via desktop portals, and live multi-source recording with timeline previews while recording.
OpenShot 4.0 also introduces support for storing recordings as project assets, detailed peak and RMS waveform rendering for recorded audio, system audio capture integration into screen recordings, a new Object Mask effect powered by EfficientSAM, and a new Mask: Source menu for tracked effects.
