Two Decades Without GAFAM (Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft)

Today is "Buy Nothing Day" and it's also a time when politicians speak of "Digital Sovereignty".
Two decades ago Google began trying to hire me (I hadn't applied for a job there); it would do that several times in subsequent years. More than two decades ago I began campaigning very diligently against Microsoft - well before Facebook was a thing, years before Apple rose again, and shortly before Amazon became anything else or other than a "book store".
Today's technology is awful and the companies controlling that technology are the reason/s for that.
Society has an implicit 'obligation' to shun GAFAM and the likes of them.
It seems like "Buy Nothing Day" is a good opportunity to remind people of that. █
