'End of 10' offers hope and help to Windows 10 users who can't upgrade
Quoting: 'End of 10' offers hope and help to Windows 10 users who can't upgrade | ZDNET —
Windows 10, it's almost time to bid you adieu. Support ends soon, and many of those PCs simply aren't powerful enough to run the successor to what has been one of the most widely used desktop OSes on the planet. But users have choices.
They can purchase a new computer, one with enough oomph to run Windows 11 (an expensive proposition in an unstable economy). They can run the risk of using an unsupported OS (not wise in a world that is getting ever more dangerous). They can install an operating system that will happily run on that aging computer (aka... Linux).
It's that last option -- touted by a campaign called End of 10 -- that should pique the interest of most Windows 10 users. Why? Because it makes the most sense.

The 'End of 10' is nigh, but don't bury your PC just yet
The "End of 10" website is a cooperative effort to let people know that they have other options besides buying a new computer.
The campaign is a noble attempt to raise public awareness. It carries a simple, clear message in large, friendly letters: when Windows 10 reaches the end of its life in five months' time, you don't need to buy a new computer. According to its Mastodon account, the site is due to officially launch in two weeks, on May 28.
The team behind End of 10 has people from several different desktop environments and organizations, including folk from the KDE registered association, and the site's source code is hosted on KDE's GitLab.
One of the most interesting parts of the site is the list of places where visitors can find Linux support. There are over 70 around the world, but with a noticeable concentration so far in Germany. (Our favorite is the splendidly named Serious Cybernetics in Australia, and for clarity, nowhere near Sirius.) This list is a great idea, but it already badly needs categorization – we hope that gets done before the campaign launches.

What I’m talking about is a group of hippie radical open sourcers — warning, they may object to being called that — who have started something of a movement which is going to last at least until October 14, 2025 — maybe even longer if I have anything to do with it.
This movement, which started and is still centered in Europe, has already — like in less than a week — spread throughout the world and has even landed on the shores of these United States, where we could use an old fashioned freak fest with all the weirdness in Washington we’ve been going through lately.
