System76 Meerkat goes Meteor Lake (Linux mini PC spec bump)
Quoting: System76 Meerkat goes Meteor Lake (Linux mini PC spec bump) - Liliputing —
The System76 Meerkat is a mini PC that ships with either Ubuntu or Pop!_OS software pre-installed. It’s basically a rebranded version of an Intel or Asus NUC with the System76 logo on the lid, but it stands out from most mini PCs by shipping with a GNU/Linux distribution rather than Windows. The latest model also has a feature that you don’t typically find in a NUC: dual 2.5 GbE LAN ports.
System76 has been selling versions of the Meerkat mini PC since 2015, and just a few months after introducing a new model with an Intel Raptor Lake processor, the company has updated the Meerkat again, this time with Intel Meteor Lake processor options. The new Meerkat is now available for $799 and up.

System76’s New Meerkat Mini PC Is Still Built for Linux
System76's computers are great and built specifically for Linux, though they can be a bit expensive at times. Now, the company's excellent Meerkat Mini tiny PC is getting a refresh with new Intel CPUs.
System76 has just announced a refresh of its Meerkat Mini PC, and it looks pretty good. The new Meerkat is configurable with up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor, a significant leap from the previous generation. System76 indicates that this translates to a jump from 12 to 16 cores compared to what the last generation (powered by 13th gen Intel Core chips) topped out at, so in terms of pure raw power, it's a lot better. System76 also says that we have a 62% increase in RAM speed—the press release doesn't give us specifics, but the previous model came with DDR4-3200 RAM, and we have DDR5-5600 here, so that's the reason why.

System76 Refreshes Meerkat Mini PC » Linux Magazine
The Meerkat mini PC has been a popular device for System76, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement. That's why the company has refreshed the computer with a much more powerful CPU, faster RAM, and better graphics.
As for the CPU, the Meerkat ships with a 13th gen Intel 4.5GHz Ultra 5 125H CPU with 14 cores, but it can be bumped up to a 4.8GHz Ultra 7 155H with 16 cores. Although the base model RAM is only 16GB, it is DDR5 5600, so it's going to perform quite well. If 16GB isn't enough, you can opt for 32GB, 64GB, or 96GB (all the same type of RAM).
The Meerkat's graphics are integrated with Intel Arc, so you'll be able to play some games.

Mini PC with Linux: System76 Meerkat updated with up to Intel Core Ultra 7 CPU and 96 GB of memory
There is a mini PC for everyone - even those who prefer Linux out of the box. The System76 Meerkat mini PC has been updated with Intel's Meteor Lake CPUs, along with substantially faster memory and a whopping 16 TB of maximum storage.
Hunting for a well-equipped mini PC from a reputed brand is no longer a tiresome affair, considering the plethora of options available on the market. For Linux enthusiasts, however, the selections are far more limited, but not non-existent. For instance, the System76 Meerkat mini PC is one such Linux-equipped mini PC, which has now been refreshed with more powerful internals.
The updated System76 Meerkat mini PC can now be configured with up to Intel's Core Ultra 7 155H CPU, paired with up to 96 GB of memory and 16 TB of SSD storage, courtesy of its M.2 slot as well as an 2.5-inch SATA bay. The Core Ultra 7 155H sports 16 cores and 22 threads, allowing for very decent performance that roughly matches the AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS found in the Beelink SER8 (currently $499 on Amazon). Considering the compact size, the system lacks the luxury of discrete graphics, and has to make do with the integrated Intel Arc iGPU that should be sufficient for tasks that are forgiving on the GPU.
