Henrique Dias ☛ Attempt at Visualizing Eve Room (and Weather) Metrics in Grafana
Some weeks ago, I sort of discovered this Grafana dashboard from a Hackerspace here in Eindhoven. Since then, I’ve been wanting to create such an “observability” dashboard for the microclimate inside my home, and also balcony. I already own quite a few temperature and air quality sensors, so it can’t be that hard - I thought.
It is important to mention that the sensors I have are from Eve Systems: an Eve Weather, which sits in my balcony, and two Eve Rooms, which are located in the bedroom and the living room. To note that one of the Eve Rooms is the older iteration that does not support Thread. I also have some Loxone stuff - not by choice -, which also gives me very interesting data, from energy consumption, to CO2 in the different rooms. However, that part is not the focus today. The focus today is on the Eve Rooms and Eve Weather.

University of Toronto ☛ An example of how Prometheus's delta() function will extrapolate time ranges
How you get raw time series data from Prometheus, including its timestamps, is with an instant query that gives you a range vector as the result, such as 'metric[15m]'. Computers Are Bad ☛ multi-channel audio part 1
Stereophonic or two-channel audio is so ubiquitous today that we tend to refer to all kinds of pieces of consumer audio reproduction equipment as "a stereo." As you might imagine, this is a relatively modern phenomenon. While stereo audio in concept dates to the late 19th century, it wasn't common in consumer settings until the 1960s and 1970s. Those were very busy decades in the music industry, and radio stations, records, and film soundtracks all came to be distributed primarily in stereo.
Given the success of stereo, though, one wonders why larger numbers of channels have met more limited success. There are, as usual, a number of factors. For one, two-channel audio was thought to be "enough" by some, considering that humans have two ears. Now it doesn't quite work this way in practice, and we are more sensitive to the direction from which sound comes than our binaural system would suggest. Still, there are probably diminishing returns, with stereo producing the most notable improvement in listening experience over mono.

Murtuzaali Surti ☛ rssed — Become A Developer Beyond Bookmarks
RSS a.k.a Really Simple Syndication is a great technology to subscribe to website content. You can get the latest updates published on a website by parsing the RSS feed. It uses XML to present the data and meta information about the content.
A huge number of software developers have their own blog where they publish posts about programming and software development regularly. Initially, I was bookmarking blogs which I admire and used to visit them once in a while. But that wasn't practical enough. I was missing on beneficial updates and news of what was happening in the software world.
So, I decided to keep track of all of those blogs using a blogroll — a collection of links to other sites or blogs — which updates itself on a daily basis. With the help of an rss parser, astro and a little bit of logic, I present to you rssed.netlify.app and the journey of how I built it.
