Linux Mint Now Supports Flatpak Update via Updater + More Updates
The Mint team announced interesting enhancements in the monthly update, such as Flatpak support in the update manager and more.
The Mint updater utility now supports Flatpak. That means you can now use the update manager itself to update your Flatpak packages from Flathub or other remotes. You don't need to use the flatpak update command to do that separately.

Linux Mint is getting a ‘show the desktop’ button just like Windows - Neowin
The Linux Mint team has just shared what it has been working on through October. There are quite a few improvements it has been making, but one notable one is the corner bar, which is very similar to the ‘show the desktop’ button on Windows that lives in the bottom right of the taskbar. Other changes include fewer password prompts, Flatpak support in Update Manager, and some visual refinements.
The new corner bar coming to Mint is less noticeable than the show the desktop button on Windows, however, it can be configured to be more powerful than the Windows implementation. Using customizable settings, you can choose the click action, the middle click action, and enable or disable peek at the desktop on hover. As the corner bar is in the lower right, you don’t even have to think about where to move the cursor.
Password requests have also been worked on, so they’re less intrusive. They’re no longer needed when using Synaptic and Update Manager, nor when removing a Flatpak. These programs will instead ask pkexec to remember your password, so you don’t need to enter it more than once. This should make things a little more convenient.

Linux Mint Gains a Windows-Style ’Show Desktop' Button - OMG! Ubuntu!
If you’re a loyal Linux Mint user who’s often thought: “I wish it was easier to peek at my desktop while I work”, you’re in luck.
The Linux Mint team has said it will replace the “show desktop” launcher item in the Cinnamon panel with a new “corner bar” item instead. It is similar to the “show desktop” button that debuted in Windows 7 (which I believe some third-party efforts brought to XP and Vista).
Now, lest anyone get red in the face at my mentioning of Windows I will stress that Mint’s Corner Bar is not a 1:1 clone: it’s way more customisable.
You get to choose what happens when you click on the button, or middle click on the button. And while you can quickly “peek at desktop” by hovering over the Corner Bar (just like in Windows) you are able to turn this behaviour or off per your mood.
