Kubuntu Focus announce New NX Desktop (UPDATEDx4)
Kubuntu Focus team announces their latest system: The Focus NX small form factor desktop. This is their third model optimized for Kubuntu 22.04 LTS and the KDE Plasma interface.
The Kubuntu Focus NX can be ordered with either the i5-1135G7 or i7-1165G7 11th generation Intel® CPU. Both are fast and power-efficient. They also include the Xe iGPU, which is often 3x faster than the prior-generation and drive up to four 4K displays concurrently. Systems are built to order and can be customized with up to 64 GB of 3200Mhz dual-channel RAM, 6 TB of total storage (2 TB NVMe, 4 TB SSD), and optional full disk encryption.

“KFocus pioneered ‘DevOps’ to the Desktop, which I leverage to run bare metal on a GPU laptop, in much the same environment as my HPC cluster in the cloud. No messing around with excuses like ‘brew’, ‘xcode’, or ridiculous paths that involve backslashes. Get to work straight away with zero tech giant overhead, while KFocus has your back with responsive experts, tested system management, and drama-free patches in daily package upgrades. Crunch your data and build large models without waiting for permission.”

Kubuntu Linux developers launch Focus NX mini PC with Intel Tiger Lake CPU and two Thunderbolt 3 connectors - NotebookCheck.net News
Linux-based mini PCs usually feature very modest specs in order to offer solutions that are as easy on the wallet as possible, but there are exceptions. Take for example the new Focus NX model launched by the developers of the popular Kubuntu Linux distro themselves. Instead of integrating ULV processors from the Intel Celeron series, the Kubuntu Focus NX is powered by up to a Core i7-1165G7 CPU with 28 W TDP and Iris Xe iGPU. Prices are obviously more spicy, yet the Kubuntu team is offering premium features such as Thunderbolt connectors and an SDXC card reader.
Besides the i7 CPU, users may opt to equip the Kubuntu Focus NX mini PC with the more affordable i5-1135G7 model. The DDR4-3200 RAM capacity can be configured to include between 8 GB and 64 GB, while the storage options range from a single 250 GB NVMe SSD up to 2 GB of NVMe + 4 TB SATA SSDS with optional disk encryption.

Kubuntu Focus NX is a Linux mini PC with a Tiger Lake processor, two Thunderbolt 3 ports - CNX Software
Kubuntu Focus NX is a mini PC running Kubuntu Focus Linux operating system on an Intel Core i5-1135G7 or i7-1165G7 Tiger Lake processor, with up to 64GB RAM, support for NVMe and SATA storage, offering four HDMI/DisplayPort video outputs, two Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C ports, and three extra USB 3.2 Type-A ports.
The mini PC also comes with decent networking and wireless connectivity thanks to a 2.5GbE port and an Intel AX601 module enabling WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. Mini PCs shipping with Linux by default are quite rare, and most that do are fairly expensive ones, so it’s nice to see a more affordable mid-range mini PC working with Kubuntu Focus out of the box.

The Kubuntu Focus team recently announced the Kubuntu Focus NX, a small but surprisingly mighty little Linux desktop. Nice to see more vendors continue to push out new Linux products, although Kubuntu Focus still only ships to US + Canada.
